Bowen Military Band competed against 8 other international bands from around the region and was awarded the SILVER medal. This is the very first time the band has gone overseas to compete at an international level. They came in 7th with the score of 83.9, only 1.1 points away from Gold. Being the only Singapore band to participate in the competition, it is considered a great achievement for the Bowen Military Band as it has only started adapting to the International marching techniques 2 years ago. With the Silver medal in hand, the band aims for greater heights to win the Gold with Honours Award in the upcoming Singapore Youth Festival 2010 – Central Judging for Display Bands and to vie for the prestigious Best Display Band Award.

Okay, I think this blog is long forgotten by most of us. So, let me get the ball rolling alright?

This video had been shown to you guys on one of the practice by Shawn. There is actually a message behind it if you really don’t get what it means. Kiwi! is an animation about a Kiwi – a type of bird that cannot fly, who spends its whole life working towards achieving his dream. The kiwi strived to create the illusion that it was flying over a forest as it soared down through the sky from the top of a cliff. Thus, the kiwi spent what must have been its whole life nailing trees to the side of a cliff. All this, to fulfil its one dream of flying, even though it was technically unable to. There are several powerful messages behind Kiwi, but mainly, it makes you think: no matter how absurd and seemingly out of reach your dreams are, what’s stopping you from achieving them?

This shows that nothing is impossible. If you are willing to do it, you can do it. Don’t give up easily as all of you are in this together. Although the graduating members and alumnus are away, we’ll still be giving you our moral support. Whenever you think of giving up, always remember this video, and always tell yourself YOU CAN DO IT! You must believe in yourself becos I Believe, Therefore I Am!

yes! everybody knows that we achieved the SILVER award for syf this year. really, it’s a job well done! (: after so many months of effort and hardwork, it all finally paid off on 2 april 09! we are capable of anything because VERSATILITY IS OUR CAPABILITY! you guys really didn’t disappoint anyone. all the alumnis are happy with our result. but, this is not the end. there’s still alot of competitions coming up. continue to persevere on! live up to the name of BOWEN MILITARY BAND! A CLASS ABOVE THE REST! i’m sure we can do it, again!

also remember, result is impt but what matters most is the process. because after you receive the results, you’ll think back abt the moments you had spent with your band mates. the journey is what bonds us together. now, look forward to the next upcoming event! continue to put up a good show!great job to everyone!
